Setting their best foot forward into the hybrid and electric market, the 2021 Honda Insight Hybrid is a perfect example of Honda’s sophisticated and sporty design language. Sleek lines run all along this sedan’s shapely exterior, from the LED headlights, daytime running lights, and fog lights, through the chiselled side panels all the way to the distinct LED taillights that blend into the slight spoiler found at the back of the Insight. 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels add to the sporty appeal of the Insight, while a one-touch power tilting moonroof adds to the sedan’s luxurious feel.
Inside, the spacious 2021 Insight Hybrid offers sport seats up front along with a 60/40 split fold-down rear bench seat; by hiding the Insight’s battery underneath the rear seats, Honda is able to offer an exceptional 428 litres of cargo volume for whatever you need to pack on your journey. Heated front seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel add further luxury to this stunning sedan, while an available perforated leather-trimmed seating option and available heated rear seats ensure that there isn’t a bad seat in the 2021 Honda Insight.

There’s no compromise in the performance of the 2021 Honda Insight Hybrid, thanks to an exceptionally peppy 1.5-litre, 16-valve Atkinson cycle DOHC 4-cylinder engine with Honda’s i-VTEC® technology. A combined 151 horsepower along with 197 lb-ft of torque from the electric motor give the Insight Hybrid access to serious acceleration whether you’re zipping around the city, weaving through traffic, or leaving vehicles in your dust on the highway. Matched to an Electric-Continuously Variable Transmission, the Insight shifts seamlessly while utilizing the most efficient blend of gas- or electric-power in the moment. And while the decrease in your carbon footprint will help with the environment, the impressive efficiency of the 2021 Insight will help with your wallet, too. Of course, depending on where your drive takes you, you can swap between Econ, Sport, and EV mode—the latter of which will bring your fuel consumption right down to zero on short drives. Add in the steering wheel-mounted deceleration paddle selectors, and you can simulate engine braking while helping recharge your Insight Hybrid thanks to the magic of regenerative braking. But it’s not really magic—it’s just the brilliant engineering and performance you’ve come to know and expect from Honda.

Safety & Technology
The 2021 Honda Insight Hybrid follows in the incredibly safe treadmarks of the Honda vehicles before it, beginning with its lightweight and energy-dispersing Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ body structure. From there, Anti-lock Braking and Electronic Brake-force Distribution systems help slow the Insight down, while Vehicle Stability Assist with Traction Control helps with handling. However, it’s the standard suite of Honda Sensing™ technologies that really sets the 2021 Insight Hybrid apart from other sedans and hybrid vehicles, thanks to advanced driver assistance features like Forward Collision Warning, Collision Mitigation Braking System™, Traffic Sign Recognition, and more. Add in a multi-angle rearview camera with dynamic guidelines, Honda’s Blind Spot Information system, and an 8-inch Display Audio System colour touchscreen with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ compatibility, and the Insight Hybrid becomes just about the smartest ride on the road, bar none.
Honda Insight Hybrid Model Changes
With the 2020 Honda Insight Hybrid already an exceptionally well-equipped sedan, Honda didn’t need to make any sweeping changes for the 2021 model year. Visually, nothing has changed, short of the added Radiant Red metallic paint option, however the once optional LaneWatch rear-facing camera has been replaced with a new, standard multi-view backup camera with dynamic guidelines. On top of that, the full Honda Sensing™ suite of driver safety and assistance technologies has now become standard equipment on all 2021 Insight Hybrid trims.
